Effective October 17, 2006, converted cases that result in divisional office changes are issued new case numbers.
Known as intra-district transfers, these cases require the reassignment of:
Subsequent pleadings filed after case conversion must be filed:
Three scenarios:
Note: All subsequent pleadings contain the Chapter 7 case number and are filed accordingly.
Note: All subsequent pleadings contain the Chapter 13 case number and are filed accordingly.
Where do you file the pleadings?
| Creditors: | Keep filing in the original case until you get notice of a conversion with the new case number. |
| Debtors: | After filing your Notice of Conversion, you must wait if it is an intra-district transfer case. If it is, the Clerk’s office opens a new case. If you filed a Motion to Convert with a proposed Order, you will need to wait until the judge signs the order. The Clerk’s office will then open a new case if it is an intra-district transfer. |
