Financial Management Course Requirements

HIGHLIGHTS

Pursuant to FRBP 1007(c), an individual debtor in a Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 case shall file a statement regarding completion of a course in personal financial management. Certification is due within 45 days after the first date set for the meeting of creditors.

A certificate of completion from the provider alone will satisfy this requirement. Official Form B23 (debtor's certificate of completion) must be accompanied by proof of provided services to satisfy the requirement.

If the certificate of financial management statement (Official Form B23) is filed alone or the certificate of completion of financial management is not filed with the Court at all...

Once the case is closed, a motion to reopen with the appropriate fee will be required to reopen the case.
