The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin’s Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system will be unavailable starting at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023, to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2023. During this time, electronic filers will not be able to electronically file documents in CM/ECF and should plan accordingly. The United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit is seeking applicants for a bankruptcy judge position for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Illinois in East St. Louis, Illinois. The Judiciary is in the process of modernizing its case management system. One of the first steps in the modernization plan is to replace the current version of the system known as PACER (Public Access to Court Records) with unified search functionality and other improvements aimed at making records searches easier and more intuitive and user-friendly. Unified search functionality would eliminate the need for users to search for records at individual federal courts and would also enable full-text searches and searches by judges’ names – features that PACER users have in the past said they favored. The system’s planners hope to take advantage of modern search technologies and algorithms, including “fuzzy” search logic so that misspellings and similar words are identified. In April 2023, the Judiciary published a draft solicitation to vendors as a first step in a procurement process that will support PACER modernization. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin will be closed on Monday, February 20, 2023, in observance of Washington’s Birthday.  CM/ECF will be fully operational and will be accepting electronic filings from registered users.  Offices will reopen Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 8:00 a.m.

Please be advised the Clerk’s Office in Eau Claire has permanently relocated to room 223.  All public services, including in-person filings, are available.  Payments and postal mail should continue to be sent to: U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of Wisconsin 120 North Henry Street, Room 340 Madison, Wisconsin 53703-2559 The relocation is part of a multi-year renovation project that included the renovation of the second-floor historic courtroom, the relocation of the Clerk’s Office to the second floor, and the release of over 5,000 square feet of leased space on the first floor.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin will be close on Monday, January 16, 2023, in observance of the Birthday of Martin Luther King Jr.  CM/ECF will be fully operational and will be accepting electronic filings from registered users.  Offices will reopen Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 8:00 a.m.
