Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER)
https://ecf.wiwb.uscourts.gov
A web-based format that allows anyone with internet access and a PACER login from the court to access official court records via the internet
This system contains Bankruptcy information after 04/01/91. There is no fee to
open an account, however, the Judicial Conference of the United States has set a $.10 per page charge for downloading (viewing) case information on this
system. The maximum charge for any imaged document is $3.00 (the equivalent of 30 pages). The cap does not apply to name searches, reports that are not case-specific and transcripts of federal court proceedings. By Judicial Conference policy, if your usage does not exceed $15 in a quarter, fees for that quarter are waived, effectively making the service free for most users. All billing is handled directly by the PACER Service Center.
Retrieving Official Court Records
Effective with the implementation of Bankruptcy CM/ECF Release 4.1, and pursuant to a Privacy Policy amendment approved by the Judicial Conference
of the United States, there is a restriction on PACER public access to certain documents. In any bankruptcy case that was filed prior
to December 1, 2003, and which has been closed for more than one year, documents are no longer available to the general public via PACER. The docket report may still
be viewed however, only ECF case participants may access the restricted documents via PACER.
The affected documents also are
available via mail; at the front desk; or through the public access terminals. Copy and search fees do apply. Please contact our helpdesk if you have additional questions. |
