The U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Western District of Wisconsin, will be closed or have abbreviated hours for the following days during the upcoming holiday season: Friday, December 23, 2016 - Closed after 12:30 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2016 - Christmas Day (Observed) - Closed Friday, December 30, 2016 - Closed after 12:30 p.m. Monday, January 2, 2017 - New Year's Day (Observed) - Closed All court systems (CM/ECF, McVCIS, PACER, and ePOC) will continue to operate during the closure.   On April 28, 2016, the Supreme Court adopted changes to the Federal Rules of Appellate, Civil, Criminal, and Bankruptcy Procedures which are scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2016. The Clerk's Office has compiled an informational packet that includes the Committee Notes for the Rules that are scheduled to be amended, along with the fee and form changes that are scheduled to take effect on December 1, 2016. Attorney's practicing in the Western District of Wisconsin are encouraged to review the packet and perform any further research needed prior to filing documents with the Court on or after December 1, 2016.   Proposed Federal Bankruptcy Rule Changes 2016_0.pdf

  Effective January 3, 2017, the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin will implement the Department of Treasury’s OTCnet Check Capture program. This initiative, managed by the Treasury’s Financial Management Services Division, allows for the conversion of paper checks received and expedites the collection of funds paid to Federal agencies by members of the public.  Under this program, checks presented to the Clerk of Court will be either converted to debit entry transactions or truncated to create substitute checks.   Pursuant to the notice requirements set forth under 31 C.F.R. Part 210, please be advised that when you provide a check as payment, you authorize the clerk’s office to either use information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction.   Several Federal Bankruptcy Rule amendments will take effect on December 1, 2016, including changes to FRBP 9006(f) regarding computation of time, which will no longer provide 3 additional days to act if served electronically. The amended rules submitted to Congress may be viewed here.

  At its September 2016, the Judicial Conference approved inflationary adjustments to the Bankruptcy Court Miscellaneous Fee Schedule. Please see the attached document which list the specific fees changes effective December 1. New fee schedule

  Both the Madison and Eau Claire offices will be closed on Monday, October 10, 2016 for the Columbus Day holiday.

  Effective October 19, 2016, the U.S. Trustee will no longer hold chapter 7 meeting of creditors for Rock County in Janesville.  After that, the meetings of creditors will held in Madison at the U.S. Trustee’s Office at 780 Regent Street, Suite 307, Madison, Wisconsin, 54880.
