Request an Audio Recording

Most courtroom proceedings in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin are captured on digital audio. These recordings are the official record of courtroom proceedings and are used by transcription agencies when producing a transcript.  Digital audio recordings are available to requesting parties as MP3 files or on compact discs (CD).  The fee for each MP3 file or CD is $34.00 as prescribed by the Judicial Conference of the United States.

To request an audio recording of a court proceeding, parties must complete the Transcript and Audio Recording Request Form.  Parties with an ECF account should file the request form through CM/ECF on the related case docket using the docket event “Request for Audio Recording of Court Proceeding.”  Parties without an ECF account can hand-deliver or mail the form along with payment (law firm check or money order only) to the Court.  The Court does not accept requests via fax, email, or telephone.

Audio requests are ordinarily completed within two business days after receipt of the Audio Recording Request Form and payment.  The ordering party will be notified by telephone or email when the audio request is ready.

Please note that an audio recording of a court proceeding is NOT acceptable for appeal purposes.
