The U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts and the Office of U.S. Probation will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, and at noon on Tuesday, December 31, 2019. For purposes of Rule 6 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and any other applicable rules governing the computation of time for filing with the Clerk of the District Court or Bankruptcy Court, the time periods during which the courts are closed are considered to be legal holidays

The Western District of Wisconsin is seeking a talented IT Security Officer to serve the Bankruptcy and District Courts as well as the Probation and Pretrial Services office. The successful applicant’s office may be located in either Madison or Eau Claire Wisconsin. The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Wisconsin is pleased to announce the selection of Lara Wild as clerk of court. The appointment is effective December 1, 2019.
Ms. Wild replaces Marcia Anderson, who retired last week with over 27 years of public service. We wish farewell to Ms. Anderson and thank her for the great service she provided to the public and the Bar over the past 21 years.

Due to inclement weather, the Eau Claire divisional office will be closed today for in-person filings. The Madison divisional office will be open its normal hours, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The court will remain open for electronic filing and phone inquiries. You can also contact the Madison office at (608) 264-5178.

The Western District of WIsconsin U.S. Bankruptcy Court will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2019 and Friday, November 29, 2019 for the Thanksgiving holiday. The Court will resume normal operations on Monday, December 2nd, 2019.

Clerk of Court Marcia Anderson was one of ten recipients of the prestigious 2019 Director’s Award, which recognizes outstanding performance, innovation, and dedication by employees throughout the Judiciary each year.
The recipients were nominated by colleagues based on career achievements and contributions to specific projects that have benefited their home courts and the federal Judiciary as a whole.
“The federal Judiciary is committed to serving the public through innovation, efficiency, and outstanding leadership,” said James C. SOLICITATION OF APPLICANTS TO SERVE AS SUBCHAPTER V TRUSTEES
The United States Department of Justice, Office of the United States Trustee seeks resumes from persons wishing to be considered for inclusion in a pool of trustees who may be appointed on a case-by-case basis to administer cases filed under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019 (Subchapter V), which amended chapter 11 of title 11 of the United States Code (Bankruptcy Code).
Trustees may be primarily appointed to cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin and the Northern District of Illinois, Western Division, as well as in other Districts or Divisions as appropriate. Subchapter V trustees receive compensation and reimbursement for expenses, in each case in which they serve, pursuant to court order under §330.

On February 19, 2020, the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019, P.L. 116-54 (SBRA) will go into effect – long before the normal three-year rules amendment process runs its course. As a temporary measure, the Advisory Committee on Bankruptcy Rules has drafted Interim Bankruptcy Rules that can be adopted by courts as local rules or by general order when the SBRA goes into effect. The Advisory Committee has also drafted amendments to the Official forms to address the SBRA. The Standing Committee now seeks comment on the proposed SBRA rules and forms for a short four-week period prior to making final recommendations.
