United States Bankruptcy Chief Judge Catherine J. Furay of the Western District of Wisconsin has applied to be reappointed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to a new 14-year term when her current term expires on January 2, 2027. A United States Bankruptcy Judge is a judicial officer of the United States District Court who exercises the authority of the court with respect to any action, suit, or proceeding under Chapter 6 of Title 28 of the United States Code. 28 U.S.C. § 151. Comments are invited from the public and members of the bar as to whether Chief Judge Furay should be reappointed and those comments, which will be kept confidential, should be in writing and sent by May 4, 2026, to:

The United States Postal Service is temporarily suspending international mail acceptance for certain countries due to inadequate transportation options or service disruptions within the country. Beginning March 9, 2026, the Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC) will not mail notices to recipient addresses that include the countries on that list. For a list of countries affected by the suspension please visit https://www.usps.com/international/ to view the latest USPS updates.

The Madison and Eau Claire courthouses will be closed on Monday, March 16, 2026, due to inclement weather. Clerk’s office staff will be available to assist remotely. CM/ECF will be available for electronic filing. All court proceedings scheduled for today will be rescheduled or continued.

The Chapter 13 Mortgage Modification Mediation Program was dissolved in November 2025 and is no longer active. The Court does not administer a formal mortgage modification mediation program, and no replacement program currently exists.
Parties who wish to pursue mediation in connection with a Chapter 13 case may file an appropriate motion or request on the case docket.
Questions regarding mediation requests may be directed to the Clerk’s Office.
